In late 2018 our journey took us first from Kathmandu to the home village of my Sherpa friends at the foothills of the Himalayas. From there our trek led further into the remote valley of Hinku, higher and higher as Ngima, Chhiring, Pema and I finally approached the in ice hidden Mera Peak (6460m) – see entry ‘Nepal. Above 5000m’. After two weeks in the valley (and above) we crossed the pass to the heart of the Solukhumbu with its mesmerizing views and flew out later via Lukla.
