On 1st December 2018 at 7:12 in the morning we reached the icy summit of Mera Peak (6460m). Within 24hrs we went up there from Khare Camp (5000m) and back. High Camp was set up at 5700m for a short frosty night (-30°C). Getting up at 2:00 in the morning we slowly ascended over the endless glacier ice towards the summit with our headlights guiding the way. At sunrise we finally made it and the view on the 8000m scenery was beyond comparison. Although Mera is not a very technical climb it becomes an extremely strenuous undertaking with its cold heavy winds late in the year together with the fast gaining in altitude. Two weeks later we crossed the 5000m line again and reached Gokyo Ri (5360m) in the Solukhumbu district (last two photos).
