In November 2018 I was invited to visit the recently opened SHREE JANATA BASIC SCHOOL DORAKHARKA in northeastern Nepal. Chairman of the project is eight time Everest summiteer Pemba Sherpa. He and his supporters are eager to establish better opportunities for the next generations in the Himalayas. Lessons already started in the first building, more are in the making. To raise enough money, to find qualified teachers and to build in such a remote area is quite a challenge. There are still many obstacles to overcome. Together with Pembas cousin Pema I spent one amazing morning in the school to witness the progress of the undertaking first hand.
