Alps – Piz Bernina & Piz Palü

In late summer 2019 Martin Parigger (guide), Jan Kaspers, Johannes Hiroshi Nakajima and I tried our luck with the mountaineering attempts of Piz Bernina (4049m) and the Piz Palü traverse (3900m) within three days. The outcome of the whole thing became pretty much a piece of luck due to unstable weather conditions but in the end we fortunately finished the tour exactly as planned by using the early sunny hours of each day and getting back to the lodges before bad weather kicked in. As an interesting mix of vast glacier crossings, some steep climbing passages and spectacular views the tour was by all means a great experience.
